It’s no secret, I’m not the biggest fan of black clothing. It usually doesn’t photograph well, it can make me look pale, and it reminds me of being called gothic once in Junior High. However, there are two reasons why the color will sometimes make it into my closet; it’s easy to match and it’s flattering. I’m not the best at picking out colors or patterns and deciding they will go together, so, in a pinch, I like to have some black options that I know I can throw on without thinking. So, when I saw the ruffle details on this sweater dress, and I knew I had a new Henri Bendel bag to go with it, I had to make this little black dress mine. This would be a go-to outfit for a winter wedding or a dressy date night.
There are certain items of clothing you need in your closet, right? Your go-to jeans, a white v-neck tee, nude sandals, and a LBD, for example, are all necessities. I have a few more that I like to add to my personal list, though, and a wrap dress is one of them.
This wrap dress happens to be linen, which makes me love it even more (AND it’s on sale!), but a wrap dress in general is such a necessity. They’ve been such a popular silhouette for so many years for a reason! They’re super flattering for every figure, they’re timeless, they’re chic, and most of all, they’re effortless. In the midst of the millions of trendy, wear-one-time pieces out there, sometimes it’s important to get back to the basics and go for something that works every time.
Trendy pieces aren’t always bad, though, don’t get me wrong! I don’t splurge for that many because my frugal self just won’t let me do it, but there are some that I can’t deny, like this bamboo basket bag. I saw so many girls wearing it and just couldn’t fork up the cash to get it, but then I found mine for such a great deal so I had to snag it! It really makes every outfit so much more special and fun, and it’s not as impractical as I thought it would be. I thought you would be able to see everything in your bag because of the holes, but really in these photos I have my phone, wallet, and car keys in there and you can barely tell.
Can we also talk about this Kendra Scott lion ring?? Gah, it’s so fun! I love rings, I have a big collection of them, and I’m really excited to add this baby to it. She made a whole collection inspired by Florence, and this ring mimics Florentine door knockers.
