I can’t get enough of this floral maxi dress! You know those dresses you buy that sit in your closet and never get worn? Well, this is not that dress. I have worn it to a girls brunch, a dressy date night, and for drinks with the family, and I’ve only had it a few weeks. The wrap detail is so flattering, and I love the ruffle slit in the front! It’s awesome because it has a mini skirt lining underneath, so a sudden gust of wind won’t leave you grabbing for the skirt to cover yourself (lol).
There’s something to be said about maxi dresses and versatility. I remember when they first came in style (in my lifetime) back in high school and I was so obsessed with the fact that I could feel so girly and elegant in a long dress and still feel comfortable because it was made of cotton. You can’t beat that! I wore it to the beach as a cover-up, and then to dinner that night. I love when a dress can be worn in so many different ways so you really get your money’s worth out of it, and this floral maxi dress really fits the bill.
Happy Wednesday, y’all! It’s been a whirlwind week for me while I was on my road trip, and now I’m about to head out on another trip! I’m going to the beach in 2 days and I’m so excited for some relaxation by the ocean.
Even though the first day of summer isn’t until June 20, it’s hotter than heck and half of Georgia, so it may as well be summer already. Even though the weather isn’t exactly that gorgeous west coast 70 degree heaven, we still have to dress cute down here, y’all, and nothing says summer style like a crisp, white, embroidered dress.
Now, I have done a lot of shopping in my day, and I believe that this year I found the perfect dress that completely captures the essence of summer. I wrote in my Instagram caption I posted of this dress recently that I imagined it would be the perfect dress to wear on a yacht (I dream big, obviously), and even though I’ll only be wearing this to brunch, happy hours, BBQ’s, or crawfish boils because I live in Central Texas, I feel like its natural home would be on the water. I’m completely obsessed with whites and blues for the beach or lake. Did anyone else’s parents make them take family photos in all-white outfits on their beach vacations? I might have thought it was embarrassing then (teenage me was like “mooommmm”) but now I’m positive I’ll do the same thing one day. I feel like wearing these nautical colors gets you in the mood for summer even if a beach vacation isn’t on your schedule any time soon.
Another combo I love just as much as whites and blues and the beach is yellow and blue together. Something about mixing primary colors together just adds such a pop! I don’t consider myself an expert on mixing colors, so when I find combos that work, I try to use them often. Anyone else the same way?
