The Inns Charleston: Charming Southern Vacation Homes

It’s been so great sharing my travels with y’all over the past few weeks! I feel like I’ve been on the go constantly and it has been such a blessing to see and experience so many new places.

As many of you know, Charleston has particularly peaked my interest over the past few months (as well as everyone else’s in the world it seems) and after visiting on my road trip, I am officially in love with this beautiful city. I can totally see myself living there, and part of the reason was probably because we got to stay at such an adorable vacation home instead of a hotel.

The Inns Charleston is composed of renovated historic homes that feel like an upscale hotel because of their modern and chic design but homey at the same time because they’re set in a charming and historic neighborhood tucked away with all the locals. Located on Spring Street, just walking distance from food, shopping, and plenty of fun nightlife, we never had to get a ride (even in the Southern heat) we just walked everywhere. We felt like Charleston natives when we stepped out on the porch and out the front gate to go explore everything the town has to offer. Inside, all the furnishing are brand new and carefully designed, and covering the walls throughout the house are beautiful paintings by local artists.

I think what sets Inns Charleston apart from other home rentals is that they really focus on the experience. Everything you could possibly need is provided, really making you feel like you’re at home and letting you focus on the fun of your vacation. There wasn’t a big long list of things we needed to do before we checked out like I’ve seen at other home rentals, we just locked up the door behind us and were on our way. It really took away the stress from our morning departure.

Scroll below and see my photos from our stay and read more about why I loved our vacation home so much!

Even though we went out to eat while we were there, the kitchen had everything we needed should we have decided to stay in and cook. They left us some little snacks from local stores, the coffee was great, and they had all the utensils for cooking and baking necessary. I also loved the orchid on the windowsill 🙂

Our home (69B) was a two-bedroom, one bath, with a Master bedroom that has a king size bed and another room with two twins. Like a very silly person, I forgot to take photos of our master bedroom before we threw our stuff everywhere, but you can see a picture of what it looks like here. The setup is perfect for a group of 4 friends or a family with kids!

The decor is absolutely stunning. The house is full of authentic Charleston pieces like sweet grass baskets as well as items from the “low-country” coast. I wanted to take everything home with me!

We only spent 48 hours in Charleston, but we couldn’t have asked for a more magical place to spend it. Be sure to check out the Inns Charleston if you’re looking for a place to stay on your next visit!

Where to Stay in Savannah, Georgia

Did y’all know that I’m originally from Georgia?

Yup! I was born in northern Georgia and lived there until I was 6 years old, then we moved to a few more places in the South before settling down in Texas, where I’ve been since the I was 12.

So, being a Georgia peach myself, I have been to Savannah many times since I was young. It’s a great place to visit for families, with lots of sight-seeing opportunities and fun things to do. This was the first time I have ever stayed in such a beautiful Inn while I was visiting, though. As I have mentioned (or talked about way too much over the past week or so), my bestie and I took a Southern road trip and Savannah, Georgia was our second stop after New Orleans, and we stayed at the beautiful Hamilton-Turner Inn.

The beautiful house itself it full of Savannah, Georgia history. It’s a stop on every city tour you can go on because it was the first house in town to receive electricity in 1883, and it survived the great Savannah fire of 1898. The owners have done an amazing job of maintaining the mansion’s extraordinary history, and every staff member is ready with interesting stories and facts. Tourists on the street kept coming up to the door trying to get in to poke around the inside, but only guests are allowed in, keeping it quiet and private.

The location was also picture-perfect. Located on Lafayette Square, you’re in walking distance from pretty much everything. We walked to grab some tea at Gryphon Tea Room, and to Perry Rubber Bike Shop just down the street so we could see even more of the city.

One of our favorite parts about the Inn were the lovely touches of hospitality. They had a number of pampering amenities for the guests to enjoy every day including: morning coffee and newspaper in the parlor, afternoon refreshments, evening wine and hors d’oeuvres, late evening port, and a nightly turn down service. It was a wonderful way to get to know the other guests and was just really the nicest touch. We sipped on a glass (or two) of wine before heading to our haunted pub crawl and definitely took advantage of all the delicious, house-made snacks.

Our room was a dream come true. This bed, y’all… I never wanted to leave. Everything inside has been updated and redone, making it feel so luxurious. We were on the ground floor, along with 2 other rooms, and we never had a problem with noise from guests who were earlier risers than us. It was really such a relaxing place to stay in every way.

Along with the other amenities, a bountiful breakfast was served in the dining room every morning. The first day we had a croque-madame with potatoes and the second day we had a peach french toast with sausage. It was such a unique experience, completely different from the normal buffet-type breakfasts that are included at other hotels, with a server (Anthony, who is amazing) there to bring us our coffee and juice and give us some tips on where to go explore in the city. We walked out of the dining room every day feeling like we needed to pay an expensive bill because it was such a fabulous breakfast, but it’s all included in the stay.

If you’re visiting Savannah, Georgia and looking for the most quaint, historic, and luxurious Inn, The Hamilton-Turner Inn is the place to be. They have a 5 star rating on TripAdvisor and won the 2017 TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice Award, so I’m among many people who have found their stay extraordinary. I can’t wait to come back again for my next trip to Savannah!
